Operating Principle

The KFCN Series integrates the thermal principles of air cooling and evaporative cooling into a staged heat rejection process for improved efficiency.

The process fluid first enters the finned pre-cooling coil section, positioned above the evaporative coil and below the fan assembly. Here, a portion of the heat is rejected directly to ambient air through sensible heat transfer, reducing the thermal load before entering the evaporative cooling section.

The pre-cooled process fluid then flows through the lower evaporative coil, where recirculated spray water continuously wets the coil surface. Ambient air induced by the axial fan passes through both the coil section and finned heat exchanger, enabling combined latent and sensible heat transfer.

Part of the spray water evaporates and removes heat through the latent heat of evaporation, while moisture-laden warm air passes through the drift eliminator and finned section before being discharged to atmosphere.

The remaining spray water falls into the cold water basin and is recirculated for continuous operation.

This staged cooling approach improves thermal performance, reduces water evaporation, and minimizes fouling risks associated with high-temperature operation.
