Philippines Industrial Park Circulating Water Cooling Project

Customer: Industrial Park Operator

Location: Philippines

Equipment: Closed-Circuit Cooling Tower

Cooling Medium: Recirculating Clean Water

Quantity: 9 Units

A large industrial park located in a tropical coastal region of the Philippines required a reliable circulating water cooling solution for multiple manufacturing facilities. The cooling system serves both central air-conditioning systems and process cooling equipment. Due to the region’s high temperatures, humidity, and salt-laden coastal air, the customer required a corrosion-resistant, low-maintenance solution capable of delivering stable performance year-round.

Challenge

The customer previously operated conventional open cooling towers that suffered from excessive drift loss, unstable outlet water temperatures, and frequent maintenance issues.

Key challenges included:

  • High ambient temperatures ranging from 32°C to 38°C year-round

  • Severe coastal salt-spray corrosion

  • Significant water consumption caused by drift losses

  • Unstable cooling performance during peak summer operation

  • Need for standardized equipment across multiple workshops

  • Limited local maintenance resources

The customer sought a durable and energy-efficient cooling solution that could ensure reliable operation under tropical coastal conditions while minimizing operating costs.

Solution

CASEN supplied nine Closed-Circuit Cooling Towers specifically configured for the local operating environment.

Key design features included:

Enhanced Corrosion Protection
  • Magnesium-aluminum-zinc coated heat exchange coils

  • Additional anti-corrosion protective coating on the tower casing

  • Designed for long-term resistance to coastal salt-spray exposure

Water-Saving Design
  • High-efficiency drift eliminators

  • Drift loss controlled below 0.001%

  • Reduced water consumption and makeup water demand

Intelligent Capacity Control
  • Nine towers arranged into three modular operating groups

  • Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) fan control

  • Automatic cooling capacity adjustment based on thermal load

Simplified Installation & Commissioning
  • Containerized export packaging

  • Complete English installation manuals and drawings

  • Remote commissioning support for local contractors

Reliability Verification
  • 48-hour continuous full-load factory performance testing

  • Simulated high-temperature and high-humidity operating conditions

Results

All nine cooling towers were successfully commissioned on schedule and entered continuous operation without issue.

After 18 months of operation, the customer achieved:

  • 24/7 stable cooling performance throughout the year

  • Zero coil corrosion failures or leakage incidents

  • 34% reduction in cooling water consumption

  • 17% improvement in HVAC cooling efficiency during peak summer operation

  • 40% reduction in local maintenance workload

The successful project led to additional discussions regarding cooling equipment supply for future industrial park expansion phases.
